Recent Recalls: Bedsure Heating Blankets, Calico Critters, Bravely Bamboo Nursing Hoodies

Bedsure Electric Heating Blankets and Pads are being recalled. The controller for the electric heating blankets and pads can malfunction, posing fire and thermal burn hazards.

This recall involves Bedsure electric heating blankets models in throw, twin and full sizes made of flannel and/or sherpa in the following sizes: 50” x 60,” 62” x 84” and 72” x 84.” The electric heating blankets were sold in the following colors: beige, black, blue, blue plaid, brown, gray (light and dark), gray plaid, green (dark), navy, red, red plaid and red plaid (cream), depending on the size and model.

The Bedsure electric heating pads were sold in the following sizes: 12” x 24”, 24” x 22” and 24” x 33”and colors: brown, gray and teal.

The electric blankets and pads are controlled by a white cord with a white digital controller unit. The electric blanket with model BS-LV0A has a white non-digital controller unit with the name and symbol of Bedsure on the controller. The model numbers are on a white label on the back of the blanket and heating pads and back side of the controller and also on the consumer’s Orders History page.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled electric heating blankets and pads and contact Bedsure for a full refund. Consumers must have possession of the unit and submit photos of the recalled unit following the instructions provided during registration at www.safety.bedsurehome.com to receive their refund. The firm is contacting all known purchasers.

The firm has received 137 reports of the blankets and pads catching fire, burning, melting and overheating in consumer homes, causing minor property damage. These include 17 reports of burn injuries, including one report of second-degree burns.

The units were sold online at Amazon.com and BedsureHome.com from August 2022 through November 2022 for between $25 and $110.

Calico Critters Animal Figures

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Epoch Everlasting Play LLC, of Pine Brook, New Jersey, are announcing the recall of all Calico Critters flocked animal figures and sets that were sold with bottle and pacifier accessories, which totals more than 3.2 million units.  The bottle and pacifier accessories pose a choking hazard to children.

Epoch Everlasting Play LLC is aware of three incidents involving the pacifier accessory, including two deaths. One fatal incident involved a 2-year-old child in 2018 in New Mexico, and the other fatal incident involved a 9-month-old child in 2015 in Japan (with a pacifier accessory distributed by Epoch Japan).

Consumers should take the recalled bottle and pacifier accessories away from children immediately and contact Epoch Everlasting Play LLC for instructions on how to submit a photo of the recalled bottle and/or pacifier accessory along with contact information and confirmation of destruction to receive a free replacement accessory.  

This recall involves all Calico Critters flocked animal figures and sets sold with bottle and pacifier accessories.  The following item numbers are printed on the bottom of the product packaging.  The bottle accessories were sold in yellow, pink, blue and orange colors.  One style of the bottle has two yellow handles.  The pacifier accessories were sold in yellow, orange, pink, dark pink, blue and teal colors.

They were sold at Walmart, Meijer, and other stores nationwide and online at www.calicocritters.com and www.amazon.com from January 2000 through December 2021 for between $10 and $80.

Kindred Bravely Bamboo Nursing Hoodies

This recall involves Kindred Bravely Bamboo Nursing Hoodies sold in a variety of colors and sizes for nursing mothers. The hoodie is made from bamboo, acrylic and spandex, features a drawstring closure and concealed zippers at the chest for breastfeeding access. The neck seam label has the brand name Kindred Bravely, size, care instructions and PO number.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled nursing hoodies, cut the fully extended drawstring cords and discard the cords. Consumers can also request a $75 store credit by filling out an online form at www.kindredbravely.com/pages/bamboo-hoodie-safety-recall and providing a photo of the cut drawstrings cords and company branding.

The hoodies were sold at Village Maternity, Nature Baby Outfitter, Tootsies Children’s Boutique, Nurturing Expressions, Simple Organics Wellness Center, RSVP Gifts and More, Milk & Baby and other maternity boutiques nationwide and online at www.kindredbravely.com and www.amazon.com from November 2021 through December 2022 for about $75.
